When the going gets tough

As the winter season slowly winds down and the spring season begins, I feel myself quite excited to put up pretty summer dresses on our Etsy. Spring is in the air, today at least. The icicles are falling off my eaves as the sun slowly melts them. You can go outside without mittens on for the first time in a long time. Light bounces off the streets, wet with melted snow, so sunglasses are a necessity for the first time since September.

I'm also looking a bit sadly at our teal bomber jacket, which didn't find a nice home this winter. I don't know about other places, but it's still cold enough to wear it, so we'll keep it up for a while longer yet.

A more practical part of the winter season ending, of course, is that we pull off our old stock in the store and make room for all the new consignment and vintage coming in. Changing seasons is a chore (we have a big store) but it's also sort of like Christmas comes four times a year. What lovely things has this woman brought? Will it fit me? And of course, the spirit of giving tends to come up around season change, as well. Our unsold merchandise mostly goes to charities around town.

That's the nice thing about second hand. So many more people can get joy from these clothes.
